Golden Globes Fashion

Hey there and a warm welcome to Stylefyle, I’m Jen Su.

Awards season has kicked in again this year, with stars dazzling on the Golden Globes red carpet.  Last year was a sea of conservative black outfits with the #MeToo movement.  This year, many celebs wore the “Times Up” pin, but returned to the status quo with a range of colours and gorgeous flowing gowns on the red carpet.

Let’s get right to it with Lady Gaga, wow! Winning Best Original Song for the movie “A Star Is Born” – her periwinkle Valentino dress with a long long train, and matching periwinkle hair style – channeled Judy Garland in the 1954 original.  All that paired with about $40 million HKD worth of Tiffany’s diamonds, made us gush for Gaga!

After Gaga, it was over to the “Crazy Rich Asians”. Gemma Chan looked incredible in a teal flowing gown – but the best part was that she wore shorts underneath her dress – which peeked out a number of times on the red carpet.  And Crazy Rich Asian star, Constance Wu, tells us all about her blush bodice and tulle skirt, custom made for her petite figure

Korean-Canadian star Sandra Oh, made history as the first Asian co-host of a major movie awards show in the United States.  She arrived at the red carpet in a Versace ivory gown with red lips and curls in her hair.  She also won a Best Actress TV Golden Globe for her role in “Killing Eve”, and it was a moment of Asian grace, when she thanked parents in Korean.

As for the guys, Bradley Cooper looked fabulous in an all-white Gucci tuxedo with black shoes and black bowtie.  Too bad his nominations for Best Director and Best Movie for “A Star Is Born” didn’t quite pan out – but he made up for it with his great chemistry with girlfriend Irina Shayk, who arrived sporting a cute mid-length bob hairstyle and wearing a gold glittering Atelier Versace gown.

Bohemian Rhapsody won Best Motion Picture in a Drama – with Rami Malek winning Best Actor for his portrayal of Queen’s Freddie Mercury. Vowing for inclusivity, Malek dedicated his Golden Globe to the character he portrayed

And that’s a quick rundown of the red carpet fashions from this year’s Golden Globes.  For Stylefyle, I’m Jen Su – have a great weekend, bye for now!
