Date:2024-09-26

In line with the new arrangements of analogue sound broadcasting services by the Office of the Communications Authority, the broadcast frequencies of several radio channels of Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) will be relocated by phases starting from October, 2024.  RTHK Radio 3, Radio 5 and Putonghua channel listeners who are receiving FM radio signals in certain districts may need to retune their radios.

In the first phase, Radio 3 listeners in parts of the Southern District, who are now tuning into FM 106.8MHz, will need to tune-in FM 93.1MHz after the relocation of broadcast frequency at Chung Hom Kok Transmitting Station scheduled for 16 October, 1pm.  Radio 5 listeners in Tuen Mun and Yuen Long West, who are now tuning into FM 106.8MHz, will need to tune-in FM 97.3MHz after the relocation of broadcast frequency at Castle Peak Transmitting Station scheduled for 18 October, 11am.

In the second phase scheduled for March 2025, the broadcast frequency of Putonghua channel at Tseung Kwan O Transmitting Station will be relocated from FM 103.3MHz to FM 91.4MHz, and that at Tin Shui Wai Transmitting Station will be relocated from FM 103.3MHz to FM 99.4MHz.

During the first phase of frequencies relocation, broadcast services of Radio 3 and Radio 5 in the concerned districts will be interrupted for not more than two minutes; during the second phase, broadcast services of Radio 3, Radio 5 and Putonghua Channel in the concerned districts will be interrupted for not more than 30 minutes.  Online listening (including RTHK website "rthk.hk", mobile apps "RTHK On The Go" and "RTHK Radio") or reception via other broadcast frequencies will not be affected.

If the frequency relocation exercise is affected by severe weather or other adverse conditions, RTHK will announce on the radio and online platforms the latest relocation arrangements.

RTHK has set up a technical support hotline for the frequency relocation. Listeners may call 9766 2769 for tuning support, or register for on-site tuning service when needed.  The technical support hotline will be in service until 31 May, 2025.
