Piano Exams Recital – Workshop
To those who are learning piano, the piano exams of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music is a challenge of their talents. Each year tens of thousands of candidates take the piano exams. To help candidates gearing themselves and provide them constructive tips, RTHK Radio 4 will host the “Piano Exams Recital – Workshop” in May.
“Piano Exams”, a programme produced by RTHK Radio 4 every year, aims at providing practical and useful information to the candidates of the piano exam. This year’s “Piano Exams 2010” airs every Saturday and Sunday from 1:10pm to 2pm from 6th February onwards. Set pieces are broadcast during the programme, while alternative pieces that are set by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music but not printed in the book for 2009 and 2010 examinations are also broadcast. Archives of previous episodes of the programme are available on RTHK On Internet (www.rthk.org.hk).
As another chance for young pianists to exchange experiences, pianist and presenter of RTHK Radio 4’s programme “Children’s Corner”, Nancy Loo, will host the “Piano Exams Recital – Workshop” on Sunday, 2nd May, at 4pm in Studio One, RTHK. A number of young pianists who have got distinction in piano exams last year will display their talents in this workshop by performing set pieces of piano exams. Professor David Gwilt, presenter of RTHK Radio 4’s educational programme “Piano Exams” will be the special guest of this event, giving valuable advice to the young musicians.
Tickets for “Piano Exams Recital – Workshop” are now available for free on a “first-reserved, first served” basis. The public can download and fill in the ticket request form from the main page of Radio 4 in RTHK On Internet under the category “Radio 4 Highlights”, or simply forward the name, address, email, phone number, and the number of tickets requested (not more than 2) by fax to 2339 6427 for tickets.
