Over HK$17 Million Raised by “Operation Santa Claus 2018” for 13 charity projects

  Helping and serving others is the foundation of happiness.Themed as “Spread some Joy this Christmas”, the annual fundraising event “Operation Santa Claus” (OSC) jointly organised by Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK)Radio 3 and South China Morning Post (SCMP), has raised over  HK$17 millionfor 13 charity projects this year.

  Held at Crown Wine Cellars today (15 January), the OSC closing ceremony set off with the thrilling music performed by Colin Aitchison and the China Coast Jazzmen. Representatives of donors shared about their community-wide fund-raising campaigns. Award winning 13-year-old singer Elizabeth STEWART also sang on stage and filled the occasion with warmth. Officiating guests Director of Broadcasting LEUNG Ka-wing and Chief Executive Officer of South China Morning Post Gary LIU then revealed the total raised of HK$17,096,327 on an extended scroll. They expressed heartfelt thanks for the incredible figure raised with generous support from individual donors, schools and corporate donors over the past two months.

  Among all donors who made this year such an enormous success, a number of outstanding supporters received awards during the ceremony. For school awards, “Top School Fundraiser” went to Discovery Mind, whilst Shung Tak Catholic English College was awarded “Most Creative School Fundraiser”. Corporations were also praised for their efforts in initiating fundraising ideas for the good cause. This year’s “Top Corporate Fundraiser” was Morgan Stanley, andSwire Properties attained the “Most Creative Corporate Fundraiser”.

  Established in 1988 with the aim of connecting the local community to charities with the help of the city’s most respected media organisations, OSC is one of Hong Kong’s most beloved charity efforts. This year, 13 deserving charity projects have been chosen to benefit from the fundraising drive. They are serving the causes of children & youth, physical and mental disabilities, community, and medical services.
