SHORT STORY COMPETITION 2009 AWARD PRESENTATION
Date:2010-01-28

Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) Radio 3 joins hands with Metro Publishing HK Ltd. for the first time to organise the annual event “Short Story Competition”. This year’s theme is “Free”. The competition is divided into the Junior (aged 12 – 17) and Senior (aged 18 or above) categories with the aim of promoting writing, enhancing English standards and stimulating creativity in the local community. The competition has generated overwhelming response from the public and over 500 entries were received.

An award presentation ceremony was held today (28th January, 2010) at RTHK, with Deputy Director of Broadcasting Gordon LEUNG and Editor-in-Chief of Metro Publishing HK Ltd. Jeff LEE as the officiating guests. The competition has received tremendous response with more entries this year and the English writing skills of the participants are also enhanced. Nury VITTACHI from the honourable judge panel was invited to give comments and share his writing experience at the ceremony. The winners are granted with a valuable consultation with one of Pan Macmillan’s UK-based literary editors to learn and exchange writing tips with a professional. They also receive book vouchers and books that are tailored to their age. The winners’ works can be seen on RTHK on Internet (http://www.rthk.org.hk/special/shortstory2009).

“Short Story Competition 2009” Award Presentation was hosted by RTHK Radio 3’s Sarah Passmore.
